Two different things, never blended: existing calculated counterfactuals the baseline engine has persisted, and new user scenarios you compose here. Every result reports the same vector — capex, energy, peak kW, IT capacity, compute value, carbon, water, lifecycle — and says which terms the engine has produced and which are pending.
Each row is one baseline_counterfactuals record with its compute-layer companion. Selecting one on the Opportunity page or tracing it on the graph below never recomputes it. Mechanical rows are conditional on inferred as-found states.

Change defensible inputs and watch the effect propagate: albedo → absorbed solar → roof thermal load → cooling → mechanical → facility kW/kWh → IT kW/kWh → energy, capacity and compute value. When the selection matches persisted engine rows the result is labelled as an existing or composed engine counterfactual; otherwise the interim adapter says so.

How to read this: left to right is the order energy moves. Weather and sun heat the roofs and the IT equipment makes heat; the cooling plant removes it, rejects it outdoors and draws electricity; that electricity shows up in facility power, PUE and the compute capacity left over. Pick an intervention to light up every part of the system it changes.
